Music of the Night

Song by Andrew L. Webber ( Phantom of the Opera)

I had an interesting week last week which started from Monday. I was about to head home when my wife called to collect tickets to a show/play/whatever at 8pm at the Esplanade. So we went and it was actually an Opera. It was cool cos it had subtitles. It wasn't that it wasn't great or anything but I was too tired so I felt asleep at some parts. My wife said I was snoring. I enjoyed it actually... well the parts when I was awake.
The rest of the week I really really did not feel like working. I dragged myself till Friday which was my niece Birthday. I was so hungry when I reached my sis-in-law place I gobbled up 5 pieces of chicken wings at one go.
Then came Saturday. Pulau Ubin Trip. Me and my colleagues when cycling around the island till late afternoon. It was fantastic. Ubin remind me of the kampung days, idyllic, scenic and very laid back. We even manage to get eat some 'wild' durians lying in the jungle
Sunday my father-in-law took me and my wifey to some car showrooms. I test drive a Fiat and the handling of the car is incredible. A bit expensive though. We went to Mitsubishi and Kia and I was tempted to sign something but not yet....

Ironic

Song by Alanis Morrissete

Isn't it ironic that the last two times the Italians won the World Cup including this one in 2006, they are hit by match fixing allegations at home in Serie A ?
Also the same player who voted the Player of the Tournament got red carded in the last match of his career?
What is also ironic is this;

I always have this sudden addiction to something. Be it food, games, hobby or whatever. Sometime it last and sometimes it doesn't. This time its the $1 special at Delifrance in West Mall. Almost everyday after work I would stop by there to buy it ... be it croissant, sultana bread, mushroom tuna etc. Nowadays I found that by the time I got there its always sold out. Sometimes I waited for minutes for them to bring a fresh tray in but my efforts are usually in vain. Last Monday I went and to my delight and surprise there were loads of bread waiting to be bought. I thought to myself 'Great... I could buy as much as I want!!! Wohooo!!!'. Then I look at my wallet ... there as nothing inside. I had given all my money to my wife in the morning so that she can take a cab to work. Sigh, just when there is food, there is no money. Nonetheless, somehow or rather I dug in every nook and cranny of my bag to look for whatever coins I have and manage to come out with exactly 1 50c 1 20c 2 10c and 2 5c. I bought 1 miserable bread and enjoy every morsel of it as if it were my last.

Black Coffee

Song by All Saints

The above mentioned item has been my friend for the pas few weeks. I have not drank this much coffee since I took my exams eons ago. Anyway I got a few matches left and the teams I support are going home so the World Cup would be over soon.
I watched the movie called 'Final Destination' 1 and 2 back to back recently. It was a about a group of people who cheated death only to find that death eventually stalked them one by one. Recently some of the people I know died 'suddenly'. The latest was the scientist/researcher who was working at my place who committed suicide. That sort of spooked me up. I told my wife that I wanted a hug after I heard the news... it was like as if what I saw in the movie were coming true. Recently my wife got called from her friend from India that her friend's mother died of cancer. Now it was her turn to claim a hug from me. I guess I'm okay now. The World Cup help me to forget these things.
