Move Along

Song by All American Rejects

Many years ago, when I was working for the 'old' company, I was one of the few people of 'my generation' among my colleagues. Although there were a lot of aunties who were there and we managed to form a good working relationship still I felt a bit isolated.
Then came a group of colleagues, most were actually ten years younger than me, but some how we managed to bond. We had a whale of a time . Especially when 'work' was not actually 'work'. We spend time catching snakes, teasing each other, fooling around and having long lunches on Wednesdays. Sometimes we stopped work at 4pm to play Scrabble. I even had a hammock which I used in between wash cycles. Once while I was l sleeping there I woke up surrounded by my friends with water bombs on their hands. I don't have to explain what happened next. It was a prank to celebrate my Birthday in which they bought me some clothes and video games.
Time passed and we shifted to new place. Work became hectic and we got separated into 2 departments. Some of the girls went on to greener pastures. A new batch people came in and although they are as nice as the previous bunch I don't quite bond with them as with the previous batch. There is still one or two left but it wasn't as fun as it used to be. Well again, I guess everybody have to move along.

Holding for a hero

Song by Bonnie Tyler

I am now addicted to TV series 'Heroes'. This series is totally awesome. Its a bit like X-men and a bit like X-files. The special effects are great too. I think the best part of the show is the 2 Japanese guys, they totally rock man!

I started going to the gym again. I realized that most of the people who used to work there either resigned or transferred. Only one of them is left. " So you are the last man standing?" I asked him. " Yup looks like it " he answered with a smile. They were quite a bunch of friendly instructors. They helped me a lot and I learned a lot about fitness from them. Well I guess everybody have to move on .

Love Hurts

Song by Nazareth

I finally got the inspiration to write a poem for my wifey. It was Valentine's day and I was doing my work when suddenly I thought of how much I love her and I decided to pen my thoughts ( its in Malay so I may not publish it here ). I then learned how to make those cute little tissue roses from my colleague. It took me a while but I think I got the right one and paste it together with the printed poem. I folded my work and hid it deep inside her handbag. I was hopping that she would be pleasantly surprised by my effort. I waited and waited for her comments. It was until recently I manged to ask her,
" Well what do you think of the poem?"
" What poem? "
" I put it inside your handbag with a rose attached to it "
" I didn't know what paper it was so I threw it away "

ARRRRGHHH! She then argued that I should have sms her or tell her about it. I am thinking of trying again but a broken heart is not easy to mend.

I'm only happy when it rains

Song by garbage

I wonder what happen to the band. They played this song when I was driving one day and then it started to rain, was it a coincidence? Irony ? ... Anyway I was driving up to Obek ( Auntie's) house to get food the other day ( nowadays my wifey don't have time to cook for me so we are paying Obek to cook for us ... the food is not bad - comparable to my mom's cooking ) when it suddenly rained like God's wrath on earth. Man, it was pouring! I slowed down to 20-30km/hr. It was like every 5 seconds someone would pour a bucket of water unto my front windscreen. As I was driving through the Science Centre road lightning suddenly struck nearby . It was so loud that I thought I felt my car shook.
I reached Obek house later than usual. By the time I reached there the mini storm already cleared. She gave a sad smile and said in Malay
" Look at what the storm did to my plants ... "
And she pointed to her collection of lovely Orchids and Bouganvilla plants that was stacked neatly in shelves at the corridor. Some were sort of damaged.
" What to do Obek ... the rain was falling fast and hard " I said
" Why don't you try to grow some ? " she said
" Been there done that .. but it didn't work out " I said with a smile.
I took the food, gave her money, gave Salam and left. She thanked me and went back to mend the damage to her plants. I drove back and saw some of the plants on the divider side of the road with broken branches. Well at least Obek's plants were not as badly hit as these 'guys'.

Come Fly with me

Song by Frank Sinatra,

Last week I caught a very bad jam and came to work at 930am. I am trying to be early .. well sometimes late but not that late. It was raining and there was a jam all the way up to the exit near my place - Ave 6 exit towards AYE. I SMS my vet and my colleagues who were kind enough to help me do some of my early morning 'chores'. One of them SMS back - 'MRT still the best!'. Bad news was that when I came in there was a meeting and my boss all the other big shots were there so I walked to the pantry like nothing happen.
My recent hobby is now is kite flying.
A few months ago I brought my wifey and her sister's family to West Coast Park and I flew my Batman kite. I'm surprised that I still have the skill to bring my kite up so high. It brought me back to the days where I was young and fly my kite after school, in front of my house, block 426 Clementi Ave 3. Sigh, those were the days.
I went to West Coast a few times after that ... after work on Fridays. The first time I accidentally let go of the string and the kite flew out of my hand and over this barrier thingie. I went to Toys R Us the next day and bought a similar one - with Batman painted over it. I flew it again on one Friday. It went too high and I think the frame got dismantled cos it went swirling down right unto a tree. Determined not to lose this one , even though it cost only, like the previous one -$3.95, I climbed unto the barrier and try to pull it free. That was not an easy task cos the kite being fragile and all might be damage or worse ... it might go over the barrier again. I shook and shook the tree while yelling, in my heart " Give me back my kite! ". Finally I won the battle. I took my kite out and went home. I just bought another one recently, with an eagle painted on it.
